Wednesday Fast: Jonathan Edwards and the Power of a Fasted Life!
Thank you for continuing to fast and pray with us! No sacrifice you make goes unnoticed by God!
This week, let's take a look at one of the heroes of the faith, Jonathan Edwards...
Over 250 years ago, in the days of the First Great Awakening, a young preacher named Jonathan Edwards saw God shake whole towns with revival. One of his secrets? Extraordinary prayer—whole days set apart for fasting, Bible reading, and crying out to God for people to be saved.
Edwards didn’t fast to “earn” God’s favor—he fasted to awaken holy hunger in his own heart, to humble himself, and to prepare the way for God to move. When it seemed like the fire of the Spirit was fading, he rallied believers from different towns—even other nations—to agree together in fasting and prayer for revival. God answered, and thousands came to Christ!
We are in such a time again. The need is urgent. Our schools are hungry for hope. The harvest is ready. It’s time for us to trade ordinary prayer for extraordinary prayer!
This Wednesday, let’s give ourselves wholly to God in fasting and intercession—believing that the same God who shook New England can shake America again!
"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Let’s go after it together!
Blessings in Christ,
