Wednesday Fast and Prayer — A Call to a Fasted Lifestyle for the Gospel!

Thank you for your steadfast love, your prayers, and your commitment to advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ. The fruit we are witnessing is the direct overflow of your faithfulness.

Before we enter tomorrow’s fast, here is a powerful testimony that shows the hunger rising in the next generation:

At a Montgomery middle school, the classroom was so full students had to stand. More than 30 pressed into the room—eager, alert, and open. When the gospel was presented clearly and we asked, “Who is ready to leave the old life and follow Jesus?”—about 90% lifted their hands without hesitation.

They prayed boldly, loudly, asking Jesus to save them, cleanse them, and make them new.

These students have wrestled with the gospel all year—but now the Holy Spirit is opening their eyes. They understand the gospel, and they want Jesus. Discipleship begins now!

This is what Jesus meant when He said:
“The fields are white for harvest.” (John 4:35)

TODAY: A CALL TO LIVE A FASTED LIFE

As we enter our Wednesday fast, we recognize that fasting is more than a moment—it is a lifestyle of surrender shaped by the gospel.

Jesus didn’t say if you fast—He said:
“When you fast…” (Matthew 6:16)

Why? Because fasting weakens the flesh, sharpens the spirit, and recenters our desires on Christ and His mission.

A Fasted Life Embraces the Gospel Daily

“Man shall not live by bread alone…” (Matthew 4:4)
“I discipline my body…” (1 Corinthians 9:27)
“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice…” (Romans 12:1)

Fasting is worship.
Fasting is alignment.
Fasting is saying, “Jesus, You are my satisfaction.”

PRACTICAL WAYS TO BUILD A HEALTHY FASTED LIFESTYLE

A fasted lifestyle is not constant starvation—it's consistent surrender.

Daily Practices That Support a Fasted Heart

• Begin your mornings in Scripture before anything else (Psalm 119:147).
• Set simple weekly rhythms of intentional fasting—one meal, one morning, one day.
• Practice silence with God during short breaks (Psalm 46:10).
• End your day with gratitude and confession (1 John 1:9; 1 Thess. 5:18).

Healthy Hobbies That Strengthen a Fasted Life

A fasted lifestyle thrives when our minds and bodies are healthy. Consider incorporating:

• Walking or light exercise while praying (Psalm 23:2–3)
• Journaling Scripture reflections (Habakkuk 2:2)
• Creative hobbies—art, music, writing—to quiet the heart
• Cooking wholesome meals with gratitude
• Reading or listening to the Word while doing simple tasks
• Deep fellowship with faith-filled friends (Hebrews 10:24–25)
• Restful, screen-free evenings to restore clarity
• Sabbath moments of delight and worship (Isaiah 58:13–14)

These habits protect the mind from burnout and keep us spiritually sensitive.

WHAT WE ARE FASTING FOR TOMORROW

1. Deep Gospel Roots

Pray that these students grow into true disciples.
“The one who hears and understands bears fruit.” (Matthew 13:23)

2. Protection From the Evil One

“The evil one comes to snatch away the Word.” (Matthew 13:19)
Pray the seed of the gospel remains guarded.

3. Authentic Discipleship

“Make disciples… teaching them to obey all I have commanded.” (Matthew 28:19–20)
Pray for wisdom as we shepherd these young believers.

4. A Gospel Outpouring on Campuses

“Will You not revive us again?” (Psalm 85:6)
Ask for a fresh awakening across every school.

THANK YOU

Partners, thank you for praying, fasting, and laboring with us for the gospel.
Your faithfulness is touching campuses, families, and entire communities.

As we fast today, may we echo Paul’s cry:
“I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14)
