Happy Thanksgiving from Crossroads!!

Today we pause to celebrate Thanksgiving, giving thanks to God. More often than not, it takes intentionality to pause and lean into gratitude. We learn from history that Thanksgiving Day itself was birthed from intentional moments of giving thanks in the midst of difficulty:

  •  In 1621 – After a devastating first year, the Pilgrims and Wampanoag shared a 3-day feast to thank God for survival and harvest.

  • In 1789 – George Washington proclaimed the first national Thanksgiving Day.

  •  In 1863 – In the middle of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln established it as an annual holiday, calling the nation to thank “our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.”

From Plymouth to the White House, giving thanks has always been about pointing us back to God’s faithfulness, despite circumstances.

Scripture calls us to the very same heart:

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us to "rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in every situation."

It's not “for” everything—but “in” everything. Because our God never changes, these simple commands point us back to due north, positioning us to receive His grace, mercy, peace, and joy.

This Thanksgiving, the Crossroads family is deeply grateful for YOU—your prayers, love, and partnership in the Gospel.

May your home be filled with joy, your table with good food, and your heart with praise to our faithful God.

Rejoicing always,

Joseph & the Crossroads family 🦃
