Wednesday Fast & Prayer – Becoming Healthy Gospel Revivalists!
Thank you for your love, your prayers, and your steady devotion to the gospel. As we step into this Wednesday fast and prayer, the Lord has impressed a fresh question on our hearts: What does a healthy revivalist truly look like?
A healthy revivalist is a believer who lives anchored in the gospel, consumed with Jesus, and strengthened daily by the Word of God and the Spirit of God. Tomorrow as we fast, we are not merely abstaining—we are feasting on God (Matthew 4:4). We are choosing to shut out the noise of the world to hear the whisper of the Lord.
1. Fasting That Feasts on God
Biblical fasting always leads us back to the Word.
Joshua 1:8 calls us to meditate on Scripture day and night. Psalm 1 says the blessed person is like a tree planted by streams of water because they delight in the law of the Lord.
Tomorrow, set aside time to:
• Read the Word slowly (Psalm 119:105)
• Listen to Scripture aloud (Romans 10:17)
• Memorize what the Spirit highlights (Psalm 119:11)
• Meditate until truth becomes alive (Jeremiah 15:16)
The enemy's highest goal is simple: to separate you from the Word of God (Genesis 3:1; Mark 4:15).
Your fast fights back.
2. A Daily Pattern of Being Filled
Ephesians 5:18 tells us to “be filled with the Spirit,” an ongoing filling—morning, noon, and night. A healthy revivalist stays close to the flame.
This is a pattern, a holy habit, a way of life:
• Begin each morning crying out for the fullness of the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13)
• Return throughout the day to the Word and His presence (Psalm 119:164)
• End the night in gratitude and surrender (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18)
This is how we become believers who overflow onto the broken and hurting with the compassion of Jesus and the power of the gospel.
3. Repentance & Thanksgiving: The Doorway to Revival
Revelation 3:19–20 calls us to zealous repentance. A healthy revivalist is quick to repent, quick to turn, quick to yield.
After repentance, go on a Thanksgiving rampage—
thank Him for mercy,
thank Him for breath,
thank Him for the gospel,
thank Him for drawing you close (Psalm 100:4).
As you practice these things, the Holy Spirit Himself will train you in the way of revival.
4. Becoming Healthy in Body, Mind & Community
As we grow spiritually strong, we also want to become revivalists who are healthy in the patterns of life. A Spirit-filled and Word-filled disciple learns to cultivate habits that refresh the mind instead of draining it—habits that allow fellowship, joy, rest, and creativity to flourish.
Consider adding life-giving, healthy hobbies that nurture your soul while keeping your heart tender toward God:
• Going on walks or hikes while praying and reflecting
• Simple, peaceful hobbies like gardening, journaling, or light exercise
• Reading or listening to worship/Scripture while doing something creative
• Cooking wholesome meals with gratitude
• Enjoying laughter, games, and conversation with friends and family
• Practicing slow, unrushed moments of rest without screens
• Fellowshipping around the Word with people who build your faith
These things may seem small, but they create space for clarity, peace, and a healthy mind—so that prayer, Scripture meditation, and Spirit-filled living flow with joy rather than strain.
Healthy revivalists cultivate healthy habits.
Partners, thank you—truly—for carrying the gospel with us, for fasting and praying, and for pursuing Jesus with all your heart.
We love you, bless you, and thank God for you!
Blessings in Christ,
