Wednesday Fast & Prayer: Turning from the World to Treasure Christ!
Thank you for continuing to fast and pray with us each week! Your sacrifice is making an eternal impact!
Let’s stay fervent in prayer for the 12-12-12-12 vision at the Atlanta high school club—asking God for a mighty outpouring of the gospel and for a consecrated revivalist to emerge! Also, continue lifting up the five Montgomery clubs, especially the college Bible study, where a spark of revival seems to be breaking out! There’s still much unfolding, but by His grace, we trust this vision will deepen, expand, and bear lasting fruit. There’s still much to develop on the tech and financial side, but by God’s grace, the vision will take root, expand, and multiply!
This Wednesday, we invite you into a sacred fast—not just from the world, but toward Christ.
“Fasting the World to Feast on the Gospel (God's Love/Word/Presence)”
The gospel is not self-help. It's God rescuing sinners through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When we fast, we are saying to our flesh, "You are not my god—Jesus is." We are making room in our hearts to treasure Christ more than the world.
Why Fast?
Because we are called to be holy—set apart for God’s purposes. But we cannot pursue holiness unless our hearts are captivated by the love of Jesus. Fasting clears out the noise of the world so we can hear the voice of the Savior.
Five Ways to Fast the World and Feast on the Gospel:
1. Fast Social Media – Dwell in God’s Presence
Social media often fuels pride and comparison. Fasting makes space for intimacy with Jesus.
Psalm 4:8 – “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
Replace scrolling with prayer. Sit at Jesus’ feet like Mary did (Luke 10:38–42).
2. Fast Food & Drink – Hunger for Righteousness
As our bodies hunger, we remember our deeper hunger: to be made right with God.
Matthew 5:6 – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Use mealtimes to read the Gospels. Marvel that Christ, the Bread of Life, was broken for us.
3. Fast Netflix & Entertainment – Pursue a Pure Heart
So much content glorifies sin and numbs our longing for God. Let’s pursue purity.
Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
Turn off the screen and open your Bible. Ask God to renew your mind.
4. Fast Harmful Music – Tune Your Ears to Grace
Lyrics matter. Let’s replace noise with songs that point us to the cross.
Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
Sing the gospel. Let your heart echo the songs of Paul and Silas (Acts 16:25).
5. Fast Selfish Ambition – Live to Love Like Jesus
We’re not building our own tower of Babel. We’re part of Christ’s body, called to love.
Mark 12:30–31 – “Love the Lord your God… and love your neighbor as yourself.”
Pray for someone far from God. Fast from pride. Fast to love.
The Gospel Behind the Fast
Fasting doesn’t save us—Jesus does. But when we fast, we declare:
Christ is better than comfort.
His presence is more satisfying than food.
His Word is more precious than entertainment.
His cross is more defining than our social media profile.
As St. Augustine said, “Our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”
This Wednesday, let’s fast the world so our souls can feast on Christ—the One who gave everything to redeem us.
Will you join us?
Together, let’s humble ourselves, pray, and seek His face—believing He will pour out holiness, healing, and revival through the powerful gospel!
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” – Matthew 5:8
With you in the gospel,
