The Bible gives us a beautiful picture of a father’s role. Proverbs 20:7 says, "The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him." Fathers, your integrity, faith, and love have a lasting impact on your children and family. You are their guide, protector, and first example of God’s love.
Scripture also calls you to love your wife as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her (Ephesians 5:25). A dad can pour himself into his kids—but if he neglects his wife, there will be a deep hole in the hearts of the children, and of course, in hers. The most powerful way to bless your children is to love their mother well.
Children growing up without a father is an epidemic in our nation, and this is having a tremendous impact:
85% of youths in prison come from fatherless homes
71% of high school dropouts come from fatherless homes
90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes
Nearly 25 million children live without their biological father
60% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes
Promise Keepers (link) and BraveCO (link) have started movements that are transforming the hearts of men through the powerful gospel of Jesus Christ. Let’s pray for men to come into the kingdom of God and understand their family roles as loving servant leaders, providers, wise counselors, and protectors (Proverbs 22:6). We must see revival in our families!
