Wednesday Fast and Prayer — Living a Fasted Life for Jesus
Tomorrow we’re fasting and praying together.
Fasting isn’t just skipping food—it’s choosing to put Jesus first and shutting down the things that pull us away from Him.
Jesus said, “When you fast…” (Matthew 6:16)
A fasted life is part of following Him. It helps us stay focused, strong, and close to God.
1. Stay in the Word
“Man shall not live by bread alone…” (Matthew 4:4)
Take a few minutes tomorrow to slow down and hear God:
• Read a verse
• Listen to Scripture on your phone
• Think about one truth God is showing you
The Word keeps you solid when life gets loud.
2. Stay Filled With the Spirit
“Walk by the Spirit…” (Galatians 5:16)
Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you in the morning, during school, and before bed.
He gives strength, peace, and direction.
3. Stay Real With God
God says, “Return to Me.” (Zechariah 1:3)
Be honest with God.
Repent quickly.
Give thanks constantly (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).
A clean heart stays close to God.
4. Stay Healthy — Mind, Body & Spirit
Living a fasted lifestyle also means building habits that keep your heart healthy and your mind clear:
• Take prayer walks or get fresh air
• Journal your thoughts or write prayers
• Do creative things that bring peace
• Hang with friends who lift you up
• Take quiet moments with God (Psalm 46:10)
• Choose joy and laughter (Nehemiah 8:10)
5. Build Healthy, Non-Idolatrous Hobbies
It’s okay to enjoy things—as long as you don’t live for them.
Here are some life-giving hobbies that help you stay balanced:
• Go hunting or fishing
• Play a sport
• Try a fun activity or skill
• Do something interesting that doesn’t become an idol
• Enjoy things without letting them define you
Every person knows the difference between enjoying something and depending on it to feel whole.
Many of us—especially those coming out of old ways of living—have “deep grooves” in our hearts where idols used to run our lives. Those grooves have to be filled with healthy alternatives.
This is part of living a fasted life.
God wants you to enjoy life—but He wants your delight rooted in Him first.
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” — Psalm 37:4
When God becomes your joy, everything else finds its right place.
Let’s fast and pray tomorrow—asking God to move in our school, our families, our city, and in us.
We’re believing for revival to start in hearts that are fully His.
If you need anything or want prayer, we’re here for you!
