In a world obsessed with visibility, achievement, and endless activity, it’s remarkably easy to lose sight of why we are actually here.
We fill our calendars, chase productivity, and scroll through distractions—often without realizing that our hearts are slowly being crowded out. As evangelist Leonard Ravenhill once bluntly reminded us:
"The only reason we're on this earth is to get to know God; that's all—not to be famous, or clever, or even to write books or be somebody. That's not what God's after. God's after men who are totally, entirely committed to Him in every sense of the word."
When we fast, we aren’t just giving up food or routine for the sake of self-discipline. We are clearing out the noise so we can finally hear His voice.
What Is Crowding Your Altar?
Fasting is an invitation to audit our devotions. What currently holds the prime real estate of your mind and heart? Is it busyness? Entertainment? Anxiety about the future?
Whatever competes for God's place in your daily life is worth putting down. When we step back from those distractions and sit quietly in His presence, we create room to encounter who He truly is.
In Exodus 34:6, when God passed before Moses, He didn't lead with power or judgment—He revealed His character: "compassionate and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in faithfulness and truth."
God does not hide from those who honestly seek Him. But to see new facets of His nature, we have to surrender the things we’ve put in His place. He must be first.
What We Are Carrying in Prayer This Week
As you spend time still before the Lord today, join us in pressing into these core areas of focus:
Personal Surrender: Identifying and fasting from specific distractions that pull our focus from God's presence.
Contemplating His Character: Pausing to answer Jesus' personal question—"Who do you say that I am?"—and allowing Him to realign our daily priorities.
Next-Gen Awakening: Asking God to spark an unquenchable revival fire across Generation Z and Generation Alpha.
Ministry & Infrastructure: Believing together for 12 established houses of prayer, 30 self-supporting staff members, and 120 revival intercessors to stand in the gap for our community.
Take time today to be still. Give Him your heart, give Him your time, and let Him satisfy the hunger that nothing else in this world can fill.
