Follow Jesus Into the Wilderness – Wednesday Fast & Prayer!

As we fast and pray this Wednesday, we don’t do it to look spiritual or prove something. We do it because Jesus fasted. And we want to walk in His footsteps.

Before Jesus ever preached a sermon or healed the sick, He went into the wilderness to fast. He’s the Creator of the universe in human flesh—and yet He chose to suffer in obedience to the Father.

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness… and after He had fasted for forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry.”
—Matthew 4:1–2

Jesus didn’t fast to get a blessing—He fasted because He was already on a gospel mission. He emptied Himself. He submitted His body. He walked into battle with the devil armed with nothing but the Word of God.

And when Satan tempted Him—offering food, fame, and shortcuts to glory—Jesus fought back not with feelings, but with Scripture:

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.”
—Matthew 4:4

This is why we fast.

Not for hype. Not for attention. Not to earn anything from God.
We fast because we want to obey the Father.
We fast because we want to break our pride and hear His voice.
We fast because the gospel is worth everything.

Jesus fasted. Jesus was tempted. Jesus overcame.
And now He calls us to follow Him—not into ease, but into obedience.
Not into comfort, but into the wilderness—where our hearts get made new.

Let’s fast and pray like Jesus:
• Dependent on God’s Word
• Focused on the Father’s will
• Resisting temptation
• Filled with the Holy Spirit
• Fueled by the gospel

And when the fast is over—just like Jesus—we want to walk out of it full of power and ready for revival. (Luke 4:14)

“He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death… For this reason also, God highly exalted Him…”
—Philippians 2:8–9

This is the way of the cross. This is the way of Christ.
Let’s walk in it—together!

Blessings in Christ,

FCS Club
