Our nation and world desperately need the gospel and a powerful move of God. As we look to history, we are reminded of men and women who sought the Lord with fasting and prayer—and God answered with revival.
One such example is John Wesley, founder of the Methodist movement. Wesley didn’t just preach revival—he lived it. He regularly fasted on Wednesdays and Fridays, urging early Methodists to join him. He called fasting and prayer “means of grace,” ways of humbling ourselves before God to receive His Spirit’s power. Wesley even required ministers under his care to fast, believing that without prayer and fasting, the fire of revival would never fall.
In one of his sermons, Wesley wrote on Jesus’ words: “When you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father… and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you” (Matthew 6:17–18). He took Jesus at His word and built a lifestyle around it.
Friends, if we long for a gospel outpouring and revival in our day, we must follow this same path. Wesley’s example isn’t just history—it’s an invitation. Let’s humble ourselves through fasting and prayer, crying out for God to move in our churches, our schools, our cities, and our nation!
Thank you for standing with us. Together, let’s believe for what Wesley and the early Methodists sought: a great gospel awakening in our time!
United for the harvest,
