Finding God in the Emptiness Is Easy!

Fasting has a way of stripping away our illusions. When we forgo physical food or comfort, the physical emptiness exposes something deeper: the places where we have relied on ourselves, the areas where our lives are disordered, and the spiritual dryness we’ve tried to ignore.

An empty stomach quickly exposes an empty heart.Yet, emptiness is not a sign of failure, it is an invitation. The great theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer once captured the essence of coming to God in every season:

"Prayer does not mean simply to pour out one's heart. It means rather to find the way to God & to speak with Him, whether the heart is full or empty."

Met by the Bread of Life

Fasting empties us of self-reliance so we can be filled with what truly satisfies. When physical hunger strikes, or when the condition of your heart feels barren, remember that Jesus does not demand that you come to Him whole and complete. He asks you to come to Him as you are, so He can sustain you.

In John 6:35, Jesus declares:

"I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger..."

When we stop trying to fill our spiritual void with worldly noise, routines, or self-effort, we make room to feast on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. He is faithful to meet you in your emptiness and deeply satisfy the hunger of your soul.

Prayer Focus Today

Set aside deliberate, quiet space today to align your prayers with these core areas:

  • Exposing Disordered Desires: Asking the Holy Spirit to reveal what leaves you feeling empty and what is out of order in your heart.

  • Finding Satisfaction in Jesus: Praying, "Jesus, meet me in my emptiness and completely satisfy my soul with Your presence."

  • Feasting on the Word: Choosing to feed your spirit on Scripture rather than running to worldly distractions.

  • Gen Z & Gen Alpha Revival: Interceding for revival fire to sweep through young people across the nations.

  • Kingdom Vision & Expansion: Standing in agreement for 12 Houses of Prayer to be established, 30 self-supporting staff members to be raised up, and 120 revival intercessors to stand in the gap.
