Wednesday Fast: The Only Pleasure That Lasts—His Manifest Presence!

Thank you for fasting, praying, and giving to spread the gospel. Because of your sacrifice, students across Montgomery and Atlanta are hearing the good news of Jesus—and responding with repentance, faith, and fire. The gospel is advancing because God’s people are consecrating themselves to Him.

Lou Engle once said, “Fasting is not just about denying yourself food—it’s about creating space for divine hunger." Every time we fast, we are declaring to the world: Our greatest pleasure is not found in food, entertainment, or comfort—but in His Presence.

We live in a generation that chases pleasure and comfort at every turn. But those pleasures always fade, leaving hearts more empty than before. Fasting reorders our desires. It breaks the grip of counterfeit pleasure and opens our hearts to encounter the One who satisfies forever.

“For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
—Romans 14:17

In His Presence, there is a peace that cannot be shaken, a joy that cannot be stolen, and a righteousness that cannot be earned—only received. These are not momentary feelings; they are gifts from heaven that flow from being near to Him.

Fasting is not about trying harder—it’s about longing deeper. It’s the divine exchange where temporary pleasure is surrendered for eternal delight. The reward is not earthly applause or personal breakthrough—the reward is Him. His presence is our portion, our peace, and our joy.

“You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

—Psalm 16:11

As you fast and pray tomorrow, ask God to awaken a hunger for His Presence again—that the only pleasure that lasts would fill your heart, your home, and our nation.

Let’s believe together for a generation that turns from the shallow pleasures of this world to the eternal joy of knowing Jesus!

Blessings in Christ,
Joseph and the Crossroads Team
