As we fast and pray tomorrow, let us remember the life of John Wesley. Wesley was a man wholly consecrated to Christ—24 hours a day, 7 days a week. He didn’t burn bright for a short season and then fade away; he carried a steady, disciplined fire of prayer and holiness that discipled two nations—the United Kingdom and the United States.
Wesley preached the gospel everywhere he went, often traveling thousands of miles on horseback, but his real impact was multiplied through discipleship. He organized believers into small groups called “class meetings”—houses of prayer and accountability—where ordinary men and women were taught to pray, to live holy lives, and to spread the gospel in their neighborhoods.
These gatherings weren’t emotional sparks that quickly died out. They became sustained fires of revival—tens of thousands of weekly meetings in homes across the UK and USA that reshaped entire societies for more than a hundred years. Through prayer, fasting, holiness, and the gospel, entire cities were transformed, and nations were discipled.
This is what we are believing for in our own generation: that our churches will once again become houses of prayer, and that small groups and student-led clubs will serve as “houses of prayer” in schools, neighborhoods, and homes. This is how revival grows deep roots and spreads wide—through prayer and the gospel lived out daily.
“My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” (Mark 11:17)
This is what your fasting, praying, and giving is fueling. Revival doesn’t stop at the altar—it multiplies through houses of prayer, discipleship, and the gospel carried into every home, school, and street!
