By Perseverance, the Snail Reached the Ark: Why Revival Is Built Inch by Inch
By Perseverance, the Snail Reached the Ark
"By perseverance the snail reached the ark." Charles Spurgeon knew a vital truth about the kingdom of God: historic moves of the Spirit rarely appear out of nowhere. They are paved inch by inch, prayer by prayer. Long before revival sweeps over a nation, individual believers choose to quietly bend their knees. As saints give themselves to fasting, confession, repentance, and unwavering intercession, heaven responds.
Spurgeon’s own life stands as a testament to this slow, steadfast conviction. Known today as the "Prince of Preachers"—speaking to an estimated 10 million people in his lifetime—his ministry was anchored in absolute dependence on God. While many ministers of his day compromised the faith, trading biblical inerrancy and salvation by grace for modern trends, Spurgeon stood firm. He sought God continually from dawn to dusk, refusing to yield an inch of Scripture to popular culture.
Real revival still demands that same unyielding perseverance today. It starts in the quiet room with an uncompromising heart, trusting that as we honor God's Word, He directs our paths.
